Taichung City Day Tour

TAICHUNG CITY 1 DAY TOUR – TO SET OFF EARLY

After breakfast, we commence our journey to Taichung for a 1 day tour.

From Taipei to Taichung City

  • Take HSR from HSR Taipei Station to HSR Taichung Station
  • Total travel time is about 50mins to 1hr4mins.
  • From HSR Taichung Station, walk about 5mins to TRA Xinwuri Station to take train to Taichung City.
  • TRA Xinwuri Station to TRA Taichung Station
  • Total travel time is about 8 to 11 mins.

From TRA Taichung Station, we go to Miyaharu, which is about 190m (3 mins walk) from TRA Taichung Station.

From TRA Taichung Station, take a slow walk to Taichung Second Market ( 第二市場 ) for eating & shopping.

  • About 700m (9mins) walk from Miyaharu

Taichung Park is nearby the Taichung Second Market. Can drop by for a walk / sightseeing.

From Taichung Second Market, it is about 11 minutes’ walk (850m).

After that, will procced to Yizhong Street for eating & shopping.

  • About 850m (11mins walk) from Taichung Park.

From Yizhong Street, walk to Banana New Paradise for eating & shopping.

  • About 950m (12mins walk)

Taichung Confucius Temple & Taichung City Martyr’s Shrine are nearby. Can drop by to visit if keen.

Fengjia Night Market

  • From Smile Life Night Market, take Bus No. 33 from 進化國瑞街口 & alight at 河南崇義街口 . Walk about 65m.
  • Total Travel Time is about 1h11mins.

After Fengjia Night Market, we will head back to Taipei City.

  • Take Bus No. 25/35 from 頂湳仔 & alight at Gancheng Station, walk about 130m (2mins) to TRA Taichung Station.
  • Total travel time is about 1hr.
  • Take train from TRA Taichung Station to TRA Xinwuri Station
  • Total travel time is about 8 to 11mins.
  • Walk to HSR Taichung Station from TRA Xinwuri Station & take HSR back to Taipei.
  • Total travel time is 50mins to 1hr4mins.

From HSR Taipei Station, walk back to hotel to rest for the day.

Used to be an Ophthalmology Clinic, previously owned by Japanese man named Miyaharu during the Japanese Occupation period of Taiwan. Now it is opened by Dawncake – an established store in Taichung that sells pineapple tarts and other pastries in nice packaging. Worth visiting to see the shop’s interior & to buy some gifts for friends & relatives.

Taichung Second Market 第二市場

Built in 1917, used to be famous for its delicate & pricy goods. Now, it is a 7000sqm market with more than 50 shops & 300 stands. Special characteristic of this market is that its design is hexagonal. It is now famous for its food. This market reflects the history of Taichung.

Yizhong Street 一中商圈

Yizhong Street is a shopping area and there is a night market too. It is like our Singapore Bugis Street where most youngsters hang out.

Banana New Paradise 香蕉新樂園

One of the most extraordinary teahouses in Taichung, comes alive with a recreation of a Taiwan street between 1920 & 1940, complete with Qing dynasty & colonial-era stone fronts, & original antiques & collector items.
It is also a restaurant whereby visitors can sit at tables along the street or inside the shops to enjoy affordable Taiwanese meals in very Taiwanese setting.

Taichung City Martyr’s Shrine 忠烈祠

Next to Taichung Confucius Temple, Taichung City Martyr’s Shrine is dedicated to the fallen heroes of China’s wars. The impressive gateway & the traditional Chinese palace-style architecture makes this impressive neighbour to the Confucius Temple.

Fengjia Night Market 逢甲夜市
Opening Hours: 17:00 to 01:00

Night market in Xitun District, Taichung. It is located next to Feng Chia University & claimed to be the largest night market in Taiwan.

Note: Nearby TRA Taichung Station, there is a big shopping mall, Taroko Mall. It consists of 13th levels of shops, restaurants, etc. About 1.0km (13mins walk) from TRA Taichung Station.
