Are you safe against COVID-19 pandemic?

This may sound like a million dollar question but the truth about individual safety is just a BIG Question mark! How safe are we against this deadly virus that has haunted us since last year December 2019? Just reading all the reports from various countries for the warnings that were given, we do believe it is still not very safe at the moment.

What will life be like from now onwards?

Guess everyone should be continuing to wear masks plus frequent washing hands with soap as well as social distancing in all public places. No more gathering in crowd as it exposes to spreading of this virus in close proximity between humans. We can’t tell how long this virus can survive without human as a host but if everyone does the part of not getting infected, it may die off without further transmission. This will be the ideal case! But in life, it may not be so realistic since there will be people who love to flout the rules like not wearing masks or going parties in gathering, etc. So the hope of having it to just die off will be a fantasy.

What can we do about it?

Take good care of your personal hygiene as one good example to be healthy. So the new norm in life will be having to wear masks, social distancing and washing hands frequently while in public. Also do not touch your face especially mouth, nose and eyes in public unless you just wash your hands with soap. This are the critical areas on your face where the virus can simply infect you unknowingly. So be extra careful while visiting in public as you definitely DO NOT want to be a victim of getting this infectious disease.

Is there hope for the future?

Yes! There is always HOPE for mankind. All hopes are put into the doctors, researchers and scientists to develop the vaccine that can control or protect our bodies against this infection. We cannot tell if this is going to happen soon or later and it may also be never as it will be dependent as whether the funding for research will continue. Countries may not continue in funding such research as the situation may subside or getting better. We will not know how it will be like in the near future but currently, we still have great hope to look forward for this vaccine cure. Meantime, we have to practice personal hygiene and maintain a good example to each other as not allowing human to human transmission.

Who is to be blamed?

As you maybe reading quite a number of news in the Internet where blames are being made. We feel that ourselves as humans are to be blamed for the creation of this virus. Why? Though we do not know the source of its beginning but we feel that all sorts of diseases or viruses are created due to our own actions. We did it unknowingly for the birth of diseases or viruses by our actions. Looking back in history, for all the diseases & viruses that were happened is just our own creation. It is something that we had done for it to start. We remembered in our younger days, there wasn’t much of technology innovation and life was simple but everyone was much healthier. There were much activities with our physical body unlike now, most of us are spending majority time on our chairs. Somehow with all the technological advancement, it had made us lazier than before. That is the price we have to pay for!

Will it be better in future?

With this COVID-19 pandemic, we need to learn from it and recover. It is a great lesson for every country in the world as there are mistakes made but we need to move on and learn this lesson. Since this is the first time our generation is facing the situation, the actions we take might be right or wrong but need to move forward for every mistake we made instead of dwelling about it. No one knows what is the right action to take until it is taken. Decisions made might be wrong or right but only be seen after actions are taken. It is easy for people to condemn the actions when it didn’t turn out to be right but no one actually knows until it is done. So, we hope that people will not be too fast to make judgement when things are not right instead should move forward to other options when it is not right. Learn from mistakes and move forward! That should be the right mindset about the current situation. With the cooperation of everyone doing their parts, there will be a future for all of us as we will see a greater reduction of transmission and life ahead will be better though may not be the same.

Here are some tips we still need to follow as to keep yourself and others to be safe!

  1. Stay isolated or quarantine for 1 month at the same time for the whole country.
  2. Washing your hands with soap often as to get rid of any virus on your hands.

Going Through Loop in COVID-19

Looking back in December 2019 when it was first discovered about the COVID-19 pandemic, not much information was gathered during the initial breakout and the implication of danger it carried. In early January 2020, WHO had received report about the outbreak and provided an ongoing investigations. On January 12 2020, there were 41 confirmed cases plus one death with patient with serious underlying medical conditions. During that period, it had shown clinical signs & symptoms of fever with some cases of difficulty in breathing and chest radiography shown of invasive pneumonia in lungs. At that time, it was said to be only confined in Wuhan City with no case of infection elsewhere.

In early February 2020, reports had shown cases happening in Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, USA, Vietnam, India, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia. It was already more than 10,000 cases in Wuhan plus death was reported in Hong Kong and Tianjin. On 8th February 2020, Wuhan City had confirmed 608 deaths and more countries were already having this virus cases. By the end of February 2020, more than 30 countries already had this infection of COVID-19 and more deaths had shown during this period of time.

On 11th March 2020, WHO declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic after an alarming levels of spread of more than 120,000 cases in 114 countries. As we can see that it simply took about 3 months’ period for people to realize how serious this problem of infection can spread without proper control. Since this is not something where we experience before, it seems like we happen to be caught off-guard in this matter. Once this had been announced as pandemic, every country should had put in place some form of contingency plan to move forward. We could see at that time, different countries had their own contingency plan as how to cope with this virus and putting it on action.

Up till today 23rd May 2020, we can still see the rising of infections and more deaths are being told. Why? How come with the contingency plan and yet we are seeing more people are being infected and does not seem to slow down or getting better? Our personal opinion is that not everyone is abiding to the contingency plan and due to this, we cannot foresee the situation to be over any sooner. It is such a basic concept of personal hygiene plus precautionary measures like social distancing and isolation. Yes! It is as simple as isolation for everyone in the world at the very same time together to prevent further spreading from human to human. Simple but yet not effective! Why? Well, not every person in the world are actually doing the isolation part together at the very same time. So, if you do not isolate yourself together for everyone in the world at the same time, this means the virus will continue to spread from human to human with exposure. It will forever continue in a cycle as long as someone is having the virus and spread to one another.

Do the math about this – one person spreads to another and then 2 persons start to spread to another 2 persons and the numbers will build up again. Very soon, it will hear about 2nd wave and 3rd wave and many more waves in the future. This will never end unless the people do their parts of social distancing and isolation until the vaccine cure is available. There is no better cure than doing social distancing and isolation in current situation. So, basically if you want to go out for essentials then put on your mask and keep your distance from others and return home immediately thereafter. Washing hands with soap as often as possible when you happen to touch things outside in public and never use your hands to touch your face especially eyes, nose and mouth where the virus can infect you. Do you part in daily routine as mentioned and you can keep yourself as well as others to be safe from this deadly virus. It maybe a simple task but unfortunately, we do see and hear about people flouting the rules like not wearing masks or distancing, etc. It just takes one bad apple to affect the rest of us. And it will keep looping in cycle of never ending pandemic to human.

The sooner for each and everyone realize that it is YOU who will actually put an end to this pandemic, then everyone can get back in normal life routine. This might just be a dream that will not happen any sooner. Life might be changed after the whole incident is over as we can see it. No matter what lies ahead, our main priority now is keeping yourself & loved ones to stay safe. Here are some advice you can abide to so everyone can appreciate from these actions.

Fate with COVID-19

Are we fated to end our lives with COVID-19? NO! Definitely not! Our fate is not to be ended with COVID-19 and should not be at all.

Imagine the current update of COVID-19 pandemic had risen to 4,933,767 worldwide and will still persist on when people who are not being considerate or ignorant about it without caring about others’ safety. These people are the ones who just do what they like or feel like doing without any concern at all. So that is the main reason as why we have not really seen any reduction of infection spread worldwide. This is a disease that needs people to be serious about and take all necessary precautions with isolation and social distancing which will be current cure until vaccine is made available.

Why is this still spreading like wildfire?

It is indeed very sad to read or hear about death due to COVID-19 pandemic via the Internet. With so much exposure through Internet & news, it is kind of hard to believe that this danger is not being well aware of unless they are tapped into those faked news or unreliable sources. It will be good if you do come across anyone who are not aware or receiving the wrong message be informed of the true news from the reliable sources like Government sites and other reputable websites. Please do help if you come across these people who are not well-informed.

Does it means we can relax ourselves since countries start to ease on restrictions?

As we know that in Singapore, Circuit Breaker will end on 1st June but we ourselves must not be complacent since it is not the end of COVID-19 pandemic since there is no vaccine cure available currently. As far as possible for those who can be working from home should continue as such while others who can’t then should consider taking the appropriate measures like wearing masks and keep social distancing, etc. We should never let our guards down as we might be hit by a second wave of infection without preventive measures. It is vital we remain to be Kiasu and Kiasi for ourselves as well as loved ones to be safe. This disease will not spare anyone who simply comes in contact with it. Best of all, do what you can to avoid being infected by it.

What will be our lives like for having COVID-19 without cure?

Now we simply hope for the solution of getting the vaccine cure as our protection. Sadly that we do read about people are still harping over who is responsible and blaming this & that. Please help the people to get over the current bad situation and find the cure instead of pointing fingers to blame one another. We are all humans regardless of races & religions! Help yourself, others and loved ones to be safe! That is what we should be thinking and doing right now!
