Making a wise choice for Singapore

The Past in Singapore

Remembered those days in the 60’s where we were living in kampong and staying in a room with 10 people. Though it was quite a squeeze for us as a family but then it was still comfortable. The entertainment we got were playing marbles, catching spiders, flying kites, top spin, catching, etc. It was really fun for children at our time during those days. We were kind of carefree and most of our time were spent outdoor with plenty of activities. Then we learnt that the Government started to build HDB flats which was a great idea since it would be able to cater of more people and better staying conditions. It was in the 70’s before we could afford to move into HDB flat. Thumbs up for this!

In 1985, Singapore experienced its first post-independence recession. To beat the recession, the government introduced a slew of cost-cutting measures such as reductions in employer contributions to the Central Provident Fund and Skills Development Fund; wage restraint for two years; rebates on personal, corporate and property taxes as well as government fees; and loans with lower interest rates. Public development spending was increased and a venture capital fund was set up. The government also adopted a policy of privatisation and deregulation to establish the private sector as the new driver for economic growth. The Singapore economy made a swift recovery in mid-1986. By the second quarter of that year, Singapore posted a growth of 1.2 percent, which increased to 3.8 percent in the third quarter.[12] The recession was the first test for the second-generation leaders led by Goh Chok Tong, who was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister after the 1984 parliamentary general election.

That is what we appreciate of our Government who did a great job for all Singaporeans to move forward in bad times.

The Present in Singapore

We are now all living comfortably in HDB flat and having our own family with children. And having the transport system improving like the MRT system which makes our lives much easier and comfortable.

The network was planned to be constructed and opened in stages, even as plans had already indicated the decision for two main arterial lines. The North South line was given priority because it passed through the Central Area that has a high demand for public transport. The Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRTC)—later renamed SMRT Corporation—was established on 14 October 1983 and took over the roles and responsibilities of the former provisional Mass Rapid Transit Authority. On 7 November 1987, the first section of the North South line started operations, consisting of five stations over six kilometres. Within a year, 20 more stations had been added to the network and a direct service existed between Yishun and Lakeside stations, linking up Central Singapore to Jurong in the west by the end of 1988. The direct service was eventually split into the North South and East West lines after the latter’s completion of the eastern sector to Pasir Ris. By the end of 1990, the Branch line has further linked Choa Chu Kang to the network while the inauguration of Boon Lay station on 6 July 1990 marked the completion of the initial system two years ahead of schedule.

We now are having more places of interests where it attracts visitors from all over the world. We can see how our Government has transformed our tiny red dot city into a place where people want to visit. We are indeed proud to be Singaporeans and having such an effective Government to run our country. Of course we must not be quick to blame whenever something goes wrong as we have to consider that Government is also human like us. Humans are bound to make mistakes once a while but learning from it will be a good lesson as we move forward. We just need to understand that every decision made should be after a much thorough consideration of its pros and cons before implementation. We cannot really expect everything that is done to be perfect all the times without failures as certain factors play a part of the outcome. As long as it is made with much consideration for the people of Singapore, we will totally support it.

The future in Singapore

We need a strong Government to bring us into the future. Therefore, we have to endorse our 100% support in order for them to work for the people of Singapore. All we can say is that this is not a very rosy job to take up as there are lots of sacrifice and commitment need in order to rule Singapore and bringing us forward to meet all sorts of challenges ahead. We like to show our thanks for all that had been done and hope to continue seeing the best outcome for all Singaporeans with our full support in our Government to do their jobs. Thumbs up for you all!

Lastly, as the COVID-19 pandemic is still far from over, please abide to the simple rules that can help each and everyone of us to be safe. Be sure that you wear your mask & do social distancing while in public. Also don’t forget to wash your hands with soap frequently especially before touching your eyes, nose and mouth. It is better safe than sorry since prevention is always better than cure itself. Help yourself as you can help others to avoid getting the infection.

Be blessed with good health and take care of your loved ones!

How to end COVID-19 pandemic?

Guess no one knows when this pandemic will end or how long will it lasts. But fortunately, we as one people can put a stop to prevent it from further human to human spreading as long as we stick to the rules of social distancing and isolation. We can presume it can take as long as one month the virus can remain on a human being and by cutting off any human contact, it will no longer be able to transmit human to human. This way of doing, we might be able to slowly end this pandemic. So, it requires the cooperation of every single soul in the entire world to do it together and at the same time. Yes! It has to be at the SAME time together so it will no longer be able to spread human to human.

Then those who are being infected to be quarantine and allowing them to recover from it. This will be one of the ways we can end COVID-19 pandemic! But then, it is not as easy as said since it will be hard as not all countries will abide to doing this due to their concerns of economy impact and other reasons they are facing. So, each country has to control their own crisis as how they can control and putting an end to it. As we see it, it is much better when every single country in the world creates the One Month’s battle plan against the deadly virus so it will synchronize with the entire world to carry out this task. Then we will see the best result of controlling this pandemic. Again, this maybe an impossible task since it is hard to get every country to cooperate in this matter. That will simply means we have to look forward towards a vaccine cure which will not be any sooner since not every country is cooperative about sharing their research about it.

We really hope that this time the world leaders will learn the importance of full cooperation and sharing as to fight against this very dangerous pandemic. With the world’s cooperation on research and sharing data, it will be sooner to get the vaccine cure. But we wonder if the vaccine cure will become a reality? Why? Researchers might simply put an end when there is no more funding or the virus spreading slow down and they do not see further need of doing so. There are many reasons for not producing the vaccine cure when situation changes. But we will all still be facing the danger of COVID-19 pandemic as long as there is no vaccine cure. Lifestyle and routine will be changed for the entire world. It will no longer be the same where you can freely roam the world without having fear of this virus that maybe around you at all times.

What can we do about it? Guess we only can continue taking preventive measures and precautions when we are in public. Social distancing and isolation will still be the best cure option at the moment. Here are some of the guidelines which will be appropriate to use as to help yourself against getting infected.

  1. Washing your hands with soap often as to get rid of it on your hands.
  2. Avoid touching your face like nose, mouth & eyes unless you have just washed your hands.
  3. Isolation or quarantine together as a country at the same time to eliminate further spreading from human to human.
  4. Wear masks if need to be in public and keep social distancing from others to avoid being infected.
  5. If you have fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, please wear mask before consulting a doctor.
  6. If need to cough or sneeze, use a tissue paper or your elbow to conceal it.
  7. Download the contact tracing app in Singapore to eliminate unknown sources who maybe infected with COVID-19.

Help to keep people around you and your loved ones to be safe. Let us be just humans and not to point fingers and putting blame on each other even though we are from different races or cultures. Bottom line – we are humans! Respect each other and we can conquer this pandemic together!

China Trip Part 7

Dressing table

Back again today to post more photographs of the China trip. A few photographs showing the lodging in China. Pretty comfortable to stay in the room as you can see. It is really a beautiful place where we love to enjoy the sightseeing of the scenery.

Comfortable chairs to drink tea
Nice bed for resting
Our luggages
Water boiler and some glasses

That’s the end of the China Trip and we hope you have enjoyed viewing them. If you had been to China, we hope you can write your comments to share with others.

Side note: We understand that the situation of COVID-19 pandemic are easing in some countries while others are still battling with it. Nevertheless, we as human beings should never be letting our guards down at this time otherwise we will be hit with second wave of virus. Be vigilant and not to be complacent about the danger of COVID-19.

We need to be self-disciplined and fully understand that this virus is transmitting human to human so we need to be social distancing when in public otherwise it will not end well. As long as we do not have the vaccine cure or having zero transmission, we should try to maintain isolation or distancing from one another. This will be the only current cure as a preventive measures. Our Government can put in place certain rules but it requires the cooperation of every single human being to carry it out. Anyway, there is no foolproof solution as it will only be work in progress self testing and move on if it does not work and next better planning to follow up. It is not just dependent on what the Government can do but also what you can help to prevent further spreading with social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands with soap, etc. All these steps to be taken by you will be a critical method of helping to avoid human to human transmission. Help yourself as to help others to avoid getting the infection of COVID-19.

Learn from mistakes made and move on with the next better plans for prevention. No use of pointing fingers and putting blame when things are not working well. It is something which none of us can predict for its happening but what we can do is safety measures to be taken to deter further infection by isolation whenever possible. We still strongly believe that if only we do the isolation together at the same time, it will definitely reduce human to human transmission otherwise it will still be out there spreading from one to another.

Here are some steps to be taken by us to help ourselves avoid further infection.

Remember, every single effort made by you will actually reduce the spreading. It is the unknown sources of those who are infected will be the main problem of facing this pandemic. So, download the app for better contact tracing as to help yourself and loved ones to be safe again.
